Weather and clothing
Mixture of beautiful clear, sunny winter days with overcast but cool days. Evenings noticeably much colder after the sun sets. First rains are late September or early October, can be heavy rarely last more than a day or two. Daily highs about 20C and nightly lows down to freezing.
The internet and/or weather apps are the best way to stay informed about weather patterns and/or potential hazards in Spain.
We recommend www.aemet.es (Agencia Estatal de Meteorologia). In the upper right corner click on Welcome and search by location, then enter the appropriate location for our hunt as detailed on your itinerary.
In general lightweight clothing means synthetics (fleece, nylon, poly, etc.). Always when backpacking weight is a restricting factor, we do not need to forget that synthetics are lighter and quicker to dry. Wool is still as good as ever, but it is heavier than fleece and a lot harder to dry.
It is a better Windstopper or Windbloc fleece, more odour resisting and warm when wet.
Don’t worry too much about having everything in camouflage. Neutral colours like sand, green, tan and so on, will do just as well. If you wish to go in camouflage, look for the grey colour or any other that blends with rock ledges.
- Noiseless stretchy type pants
- Cotton t-shirt, cotton shirt
- Cotton or wool socks
- Fleece & wind-breaker vest
- Heavier jacket and a rain jacket (just in case)
- Hat, gloves, turtle neck
- Good goretex hiking boots, with good grip for mountain hunt

Trophy Export
Trophy handling is an important and delicate part of the hunt. This is why we personally prepare and oversee this process, freezing the hides and transferring them to our local taxidermist with haste.
Taxidermy process can take around 6-12 months, once ready we pack it and deliver it to the Customs Broker warehouse in Madrid with all the necessary paperwork (original and copies of the permits, veterinary certificate, taxidermy certificate, and your data).
